Assistance and safety systems in Üstra's eCitaro buses.

Safety is a top priority at Üstra, which is why the transport company's eCitaro buses are equipped with a comprehensive package of safety and assistance systems on the streets of Hanover. "The safety of all road users and our passengers is our top priority. That's why we invest in such a high safety standard for our buses," says Frank Ahrndt, Head of the City Bus Division.

Üstra's eCitaro buses are equipped with the Preventive Brake Assist active braking assistant and the Sideguard Assist turning assistant. Solo electric buses built from 2022 also all feature the Mercedes-Benz 360° camera system on board, while eCitaro G electric articulated buses are equipped with the 270° camera system accordingly. On the one hand, this means that the transport company complies with legal regulations, but above all, Üstra is focusing on bus drivers, whose everyday work must be made as pleasant as possible.

The safety equipment of the eCitaro also serves to support the driver in complex traffic situations.

“The safety equipment serves to support our drivers in complex traffic situations, so that we can make this demanding profession a little more pleasant and reduce dangerous situations,” says Üstra Bus Manager Frank Ahrndt with a view to the safety and assistance systems on board the eCitaro. “Basically, we want to offer our drivers the best conditions at their workplace and at the same time increase road safety.”

The reversing camera is such a system that makes everyday work easier for bus drivers and it is highly appreciated by Üstra drivers in complex traffic situations and when manoeuvring in the depot. According to feedback, it is especially helpful when manoeuvring, in addition to the person required for giving directions. “Overall, we receive positive feedback from the workforce that these tools are an additional and very welcome support,” says Frank Ahrndt.
