Stuttgart/Neu-Ulm – Neu-Ulm-based Gairing Omnibusverkehr GmbH & Co. KG is making the switch to environmentally friendly drive concepts with the procurement of two new Mercedes‑Benz Citaro hybrid urban buses. The company is also seeking to offer its passengers much greater protection against corona virus infections. Thanks to the electric drivetrain assistance, the Bavarian bus company will enjoy a drop in fuel consumption on these two new vehicles of up to 8.5 percent. Furthermore, the two-axle buses with 38 seats and a wheelchair space will also be equipped with the latest active filter technology. "The system developed by Daimler Buses features an anti-viral functional layer and filters out the finest of aerosols from the air, thereby reducing their concentration and increasing the safety of passengers on-board," rejoices Sandra Schnarrenberger: "The ventilation and climate control systems of the new buses ensure that the air inside the bus is exchanged entirely every two minutes." Nevertheless, the Managing Director of the Neu-Ulm bus company and President of the Bavarian Regional Association for Bus Transport (LBO) still sees the existing hygiene concepts and protective measures as absolutely indispensable: "Just as previously, wearing a face mask remains the most crucial aspect on-board our buses."
