Stuttgart, 25 May 2012. In the category "Urban Regular-Service Buses" the Mercedes-Benz Citaro climbs the winner's podium. With more than 35,000 units sold in 14 years of production, the Citaro is the most successful urban bus ever built. In early May it was the first Euro VI urban bus in Europe to roll off the assembly lines. The early introduction of Euro VI gives transit authorities the opportunity to quickly propagate environmental protection widely with economically affordable investments.

The Mercedes-Benz Tourino offers the operator a multitude of available equipment features that make a wide variety of uses possible – customers can use it for everything from intercity operations to VIP shuttle services. The readers of the ETM magazines voted the handy coach the winner in the "midibuses" category. With up to 38 seats the Tourino has been successful for years in particular for smaller tour groups.

The reader poll is conducted annually by ETM Publishing and its "Fernfahrer", "lastauto omnibus" and "trans aktuell" trade journals. "The Best Commercial Vehicles 2012" and "The Best Brands 2012" are determined in cooperation with the engineers from Dekra. This year the 8,000 readers were able to choose the winners of the 22 categories from more than 180 model series.
